London
Link Radio (2005 - currently)
I am a co-founder and director of the online
broadcasting charity, London Link
Radio. It broadcasts online in
short series and on demand. Its aims are to broadcast high
quality radio programmes, showcase radio work from
students, young people and community groups and provide an
opportunity for individuals to develop their radio production skills.
Our most recent broadcast project was for Refugee
Week Radio 2009 (see below) - our next will
be Radio
1812 2009.
- Refugee
Week Radio (currently -
annually
since 2006)
I set up and project manage Refugee
Week Radio, an online community radio broadcast project to accompany Refugee Week
(in June each year). Partners in the project have been London Link
Radio with Women's
Radio Group, Desi
Radio and (in 2007) OpenAir
Radio at SOAS, University of London.
- imMEDIAte
Learning Partnership - Training Women in Media
(2007 - 2009)
For Women's Radio Group, I project managed input to this transnational
learning partnership, which is funded under the Grundtvig
programme.
- Children
and Radio (2004 - currently)
I was the co-founder of this not-for-profit organisation which aims to
promote radio by and for children and young people in the UK. In
September 2005 we published a research report on Children
Making Radio 2004/5, which I researched and wrote. I
maintain the organisation's
website, which provides information and resources for anyone
making radio with children and young people.
- National
Museums Online Learning Project (NMOLP) (Spring 2009)
Working with the research company ChildWise, I took
part in a publicity campaign to recruit teachers and curriculum
advisors for a series of workshops as part of the launch of the NMOLP
WebQuests, a new online learning resource for educators. I also
provided online publicity materials and liaison support. Click
here for more information and for links to the WebQuests.

Desi
Radio Eco Teams (2006)
Working as a member of a partnership between Women's
Radio Group, Global Action Plan
and Desi Radio in
Southall, I set up an environment group (Eco Team) to pilot the use of
community radio in encouraging people to live more environmentally
sustainably in their homes. This project was funded by an
Environment Award from BAA Heathrow/Groundwork Thames Valley.
